What Does LTV Mean?

LTV is one of the most important metrics for user acquisition. It can be calculated by taking a user’s average revenue per user (ARPU) and their retention rate (1 / churn), to give a rough model of their lifetime value. It can also be used by lenders when evaluating mortgage applications.

LTV Bands

LTV bands are the thresholds that mortgage lenders consider certain mortgage deals to be available up to. For example, if you’ve saved up a deposit of PS20,000 for a property worth PS200,000 and need a mortgage to cover the rest, your LTV would be 90%.

Most mortgage lenders will offer a range of different mortgage products based on their LTV bands. They’ll usually start at 95% (meaning you have a 5% deposit) and drop in 5% increments (90%, 85%, 80%, etc). Mortgage interest rates tend to decrease as the mortgage lender moves down the LTV band.

Some lenders will also offer 100% mortgages, which are designed for people who cannot afford a deposit. However, these are more specialist mortgages and you’ll likely need a guarantor to sign up for them.
